Down the Tubes

According to the Reuters news service, early last year a man in Brazil was trapped in his city's sewer system for four days. The man, a resident of the town of Betim, 350 miles northeast of Sao Paulo, was washed down a storm drain during a heavy flood, and was stuck underground amid the sewage and mud with no way out.

Finally, after calling for help for four days, residents of the town heard his cries coming from a manhole. The people called the police, who were able to pull the victim from the cement tube. In spite of his ordeal, the only injuries the man suffered were a few bruises and some broken teeth. (However, the article didn't say what the man ate or drank for the four days he was in the sewer -- for that, I guess, you'll just have to use your imagination!)
